TSTR WEEK #81- CHEVRONS

What a gorgeous day we are having here in North Carolina! I just love this time of year with the heat of summer over and the warm autumn days beginning.  The sky is crystal clear Carolina Blue today. It is perfect for walking and enjoying the freshness that comes after the heat is gone and some rain clears up the air.  Soon the leaves will be changing colors… I can’t wait for that!

Well today I am sharing my card that I created for this week’s challenge at The Shabby Tea Room: Week #81- Chevrons. The challenge is to create a card or project using BLUE, GREEN, ORANGE, CREAM AND BROWN WITH CHEVRONS!

TSTR 81 Chevrons

This is another one of my Thanksgiving cards and on this one I decided to quill a fall flower design in Orange, yellow, brown and green.  I used my Spellbinders Labels Four to design a mat for the flowers.  Cut in 3 sizes, the largest is decorated in my now very used Pumpkin Border Set from Rubber Stamp Tapestry.  I do love the detail in this set.  The middle size is a metallic orange and the small size is a gorgeous blue from my Mariposa matstack.

TSTR 81 Chevrons2

I incorporated chevrons into the design by using ric-rac in green, orange, cream and blue. I used the Spellbinders Labels Four and a scrap of the same Mariposa paper to make the sentiment tag. The Happy Thanksgiving is a block stamp from Rubber Stamp Tapestry.  Three pumpkin brads add another touch of Thanksgiving to the card.

TSTR 81 Chevrons3

The card is finished off with a collared grosgrain bow in cream color and embellished with a gold pearl.  Some paper punching and more gold pearls complete the card.

TSTR 81 Chevrons4

So there we have a Thanksgiving card that manages to use blue and chevrons. What do you think?

Thanks for stopping by today. Please check in tomorrow for another beautiful Thanksgiving card!

Thanksgiving is on its way!

Hi fellow bloggers! Welcome to In a World of Craft.  Today, I am going to show you the first of my Thanksgiving cards.  This is a pretty simple one but I like the effect.

HappyThanksgiving

This card is made from simple, plain cardstock in black, deep yellow and tan.  The yellow cardstock is edged in Olive Versacolor.  The top right and bottom left are punched with an EK Success CardCreator. The tan cardstock is heavily distressed with Olive Versacolor with the top left and bottom right corners paper punched.  I used a Spellbinders circle die cut on this cardstock to make a “window” for the medallion.

HappyThanksgiving2

The medallion is a black cardstock circle that is edged with a gold pen.  A smaller circle is then stamped with my Pumpkin Border Set from Rubber Stamp Tapestry…Yes, this stamp set is doing double duty this season!  A small satin bow in white is added to the medallion.  The Happy Thanksgiving sentiment is from RST’s block stamps and the shape is a RST positioning template. A flourish from Sizzix and some green pearls finish the card.

Spooky Cat

At last! Halloween cards are complete and I can move on to Thanksgiving.

Today’s card is a clean and simple Halloween card with a black cat as the focus.

boocat

Haha! I’m not sure how spooky he really is. I think he looks to cute to be spooky.  The card is a black base topped by 4 neutral colored rectangles. The medallion is a Spellbinders die cut oval with black glitter, the little cat and the word boo.  The word boo is cut from the Sizzix Garden Delight set.

Two corners of the card are stamped with Rubber Stamp Tapestry’s Pumpkin Border Set. Wow that set has gotten a ton of use this season!

The card is finished with silver pearls and cream grosgrain ribbon and bow.

Happy Halloween to all! Let’s get started on Thanksgiving.

The Play Date Cafe Challenge PDCC100

Hello all you crafty blogging buddies! It is another rainy day here in NC so that means another play day in the studio!  Today’s card is another Halloween card which is being entered into The Play Date Cafe Challenge PDCC100. This is my first time playing at the PDCC. I really love that they chose the color palette and you design based on the colors.

Here is my entry that is based on the inspiration photo below.  The base of the card is dark green cardstock that is punched in the top right corner and edged in gold. The next layer is a cream cardstock that is embossed with a Cuttlebug embossing folder and highlighted with Versacolor Umber.

happy halloween

The large round medallion is stamped with Rubber Stamp Tapestry’s Pumpkin Border Set and topped with a quilled pumpkin.  I just love quilling items for my cards. I am never without the perfect embellishment since I can just make it! The small square sentiment is on scraps of orange paper and shaded using a positioning template from RST.

Finally, the card is finished off with a beige grosgrain ribbon and flat bow, gold pearls and 3 orange buttons.

One more Halloween card to come and then on to Thanksgiving! Whew this is a busy time of year but I love it!! Have a great day and please visit again.

Week #80 - 'Vintage White'

Hi to all my blogging friends! I hope you are having a wonderful week.

I am so happy to have finished my Halloween cards! The one I am showing you today is being entered into The Shabby Tea Room’s card challenge Week #80 - 'Vintage White'.  For this card we were challenged to create a monochromatic card or project using WHITE OR CREAM, KRAFT, BROWN OR BLACK. And here is my card…

ghost

I just love the way this card turned out! I wanted to do something with ghosts and these little guys that I quilled worked out just perfectly. The base of the card is embossed with a Sizzix Texture Plate and embellished with off-white grosgrain and grey silk ribbon.  The frame is Spellbinders rectangle and embellished with tiny pearls. The background is outlined in silver pen then stamped with silver leaves and bronze squigglies.

ghost2

The panel on the left is embossed with a Cuttlebug border and distressed with Jim Holtz Distress Ink.  The rose is rolled using an off-white grosgrain ribbon then distressed with Jim Holtz Distress Ink and finished with a pearl. The leaves were stamped using Rubber Stamp Tapestry’s leaves from the Pumpkin Border Set and then cut out to create a layered effect.

Last, the sentiment was made using my computer and Freebooter Script font. A black TomBow pen was used to edge the sentiment and then make the dots across the top and bottom.  Finish with pearls and done!

I hope you enjoyed my card. Thank you for visiting and please stop again soon to see the rest of my Halloween cards.  Until then, have a crafty day!

Another Halloween Card

Before we get to my new card, I have to say how totally EXCITED I am this morning! I won the TSTR # 79 Card Challenge with my masculine card. Click here to see it. And this is the awesome bling I get to add to my blog:

TSTR - Winner Badge

A BIG thanks to all you Shabby Girls for choosing my card!

OK enough celebrating. Time to get back to work.  Today I have another Halloween card for you.  Man, I really hope Miss Joy will let me finish these today. At the moment she is looking so sweet and innocent as she is sleeping at my feet.

Halloween

This little Halloween card is so cute! It is a small 4x6 card that was really fun to make. I just love the black and orange combination and the Sizzix diecut adds a touch of elegance to this little cutie.

Halloween2

The medallion is cut from the Spellbinders Labels Two, distressed with VersaColor Ink and decorated with Rubber Stamp Tapestry’s Pumpkin Border Set.  The Trick or Treat stamp is from a set that I have had a while. I don’t remember where it came from but I stamped, heat embossed and cut out the sentiment and attached to the medallion.  Finish off with ribbon, bow, pearl and brads.

Thanks for stopping by to see my Halloween card. I hope you like it. Stay tuned……more Halloween fun to come!

TRICK OR TREAT, SMELL MY FEET!

Hi All my crafty friends! I hope you are enjoying a wonderful early fall day as you stop by my blog.  Todays “treat” is another Halloween card.  I have to get really busy! I need to get these finished so I can make my Thanksgiving cards. Wow! Where does all the time go?

OK. Today, my card is called Trick or Treat, Smell My Feet!

Trick or Treat

The gold linen paper is heat embossed with some cute Halloween stamps I found.  I used clear embossing powder mixed with gold Perfect Pearls to create the design.

Trick or Treat2

The medallion stamp is from the same Halloween set.  The witches shoes are glammed up with some purple Stickles glitter glue and the socks colored with marker.

Trick or Treat3

The gold small diamonds are decorated with Rubber Stamp Tapestry’s Pumpkin Border Set, some gold Stickles and mini bat brads. The border of the card is stamped in bronze using a mini stamp from RST again.

More Halloween fun to come tomorrow! Thank you so much for visiting my blog. I hope you enjoyed this card.

TSTR #79 - ‘Boys Will Be Boys’

Hi everyone. I am so happy today! Fall is finally here and the weather is cool, rainy and in general just a stay inside day.  We are all so thrilled that the heat wave has ended and we are getting some much needed rain.

This week I am participating in The Shabby Tea Room’s card challenge Week #79 - 'Boys Will Be Boys'.  The challenge is to make a card with a MASCULINE THEME AND USE THE COLORS FROM THE INSPIRATION PICTURE.  I don’t know about you, but making a masculine card is so hard for me.  I just think it is difficult to stay away from flowers, ribbons and bows (hehe).

OK. So, here is the card I created for this challenge:

TSTR 79

The coordinating papers are from Bobunny.  I quilled the duck and cattails on the center medallion and cut a frame using Spellbinders Nestabilities.

TSTR 79_2

A button, some feathers, brads and metal spirals complete the “glam” on this masculine card.

This card is going to be my Dad’s birthday card but, shhhhh. Don’t tell him! His birthday is in December and I am always so busy then.  Here is the inside:

TSTR 79_3

A nice piece of cut paper with accent border, more brads and a chipboard diamond with a Happy Birthday sentiment. Now all I have to do is write to him!

This weeks challenge inspiration photo at Week #79 - 'Boys Will Be Boys'

I hope you like my card. Thank you so much for visiting In a World of Craft today. I am always thrilled to have visitors and to see your comments.

Next, another Halloween card! Til then, have a crafty day!!!!

BOO!

Wow!  There is so much going on here In a World of Craft and not all of it is craft related.

My new 8 week old puppy is here! Oh she is sooooo cute and cuddly.  Her name is AlmondJoy (we call her Joy) and she was named this for her coloring which is chocolate and white. Joy is a Cocker Spaniel and will be my side kick I’m sure.  Here she is:

Joy3 8_9_11Joy2 8_9_11

Well believe it or not Halloween will be here before we know it.  I am working on my Halloween cards and will start sharing those today. Expect to see one each day this week; that is assuming Joy will allow me the time (hehe).

My first one is a simple card done in textured plain cardstock, in black, grey and orange.  The cat, moon and Boo are die cuts from Sizzix.

Boo

The orange cardstock on the medallion is pierced and then heavily distressed  in charcoal ink. The same charcoal ink is used with an oval positioning template to create the oval behind the cat.

Boo2

Tiny bat brads are used on the moon and the cat is “dressed up” with glitter, rick rack for the collar, and a pearl. OK. I’m not a cat person but I think this kitty is cute!

Boo4

Boo3

I used the Pumpkin Border Set from Rubber Stamp Tapestry to decorate the orange background and the yellow scrap.  I know.  You are saying “she always talks about RST’s stamps” and I do! But it is because I absolutely love, love, love them!  They are very tiny peg stamps that have incredible detail. They are extremely well made and I just can’t get enough of them.

And last, I used some cute pumpkin brads in yellow and orange to finish off the card.

Well it only took 2 days to get this post completed. Joy is keeping me so busy but she is a lot of fun. I hope you like my Halloween card. More will be showing up as soon as I can get them written up.

Have a great day and thanks for stopping by In a World of Craft! And remember, I love getting comments!!!

TSTR #78–Pink Wedded Bliss

What a surprise I got this week when I looked at The Shabby Tea Room’s challenge!  After making wedding cards last week, I get to make another one for their challenge this week.  I just love making wedding cards so this has been absolutely the best challenge so far.

This week’s challenge is called Week #78 - 'Pink Wedded Bliss'. The challenge is to create a card or project with a wedding, anniversary or celebration theme and use PINK, BLACK AND ANY NEUTRALS (white, cream, kraft).

Here is the card I came up with to meet their challenge.

TSTR 78 Pink Wedded Bliss

The colors are so sweet and soft!

And here are my favorites from the inspiration photos:

TSTR 78 Pink Wedded Bliss2

The flowers are made from satin ribbon and the leaves are quilled.  I didn’t have any quilling paper or a quilling tool so I just cut some cardstock 1/8 inch wide 12 inches long and used a wooden skewer.  I found it to be so much fun and I liked the results so much I have ordered paper, tool, and a book!  I can’t wait to learn more about this craft.  I bet you’ll be seeing some more of this lol.

The base of the card is from my new The Luxury pearlized and metallic pack.  I just love the paper in this pack. The colors are gorgeous and the patterns are soft and delicate.  I cut 2 soft pink pieces of textured card stock and used EK Success card makers to cut the corners. The paper inserted into the corners are also from The Luxury pack and are embossed using Cuttlebug embosslets.

TSTR 78 Pink Wedded Bliss3

The medallion and the LOVE sentiment are stamped with Rubber Stamp Tapestry’s stamps. The set used in the medallion is called Nature’s Path.  Inkadinkado’s Glam Gold pen was used for stamping the sentiments.  The frame is made by placing two Spellbinders Labels Four on a metallic sheet and running it through my Big Shot.  I used a pretty pink metallic paper to make it.

Thank you for looking at my card. I hope you enjoyed your visit.  I cannot believe we are getting so close to Halloween… Time to start on those cards!

Until next time, have a crafty time! Please stop by again and don’t forget to leave your comments.

Time For a Wedding!

My heart to you is given:
Oh, do give yours to me;
We'll lock them up together,
And throw away the key.
~Frederick Saunders

Hi all my fellow bloggers.  Today I have wedding cards! Don’t you just love a wedding? I was so excited when my Sister-in-law asked me to make a card for them to give my nephew and his wife on their wedding day.  I had so much fun making it, I decided to make mine too!  So today I have two cards to share with you.

First, the card I made for my husband and me to give:

WeddingCardChad

I just love how this card turned out. It is done in all neutrals (grey, cream, light grey, and white).  The Love medallion is a linen background with a design in hyacinth, heliotrope, and green.  The card is accented in silver and finished off with pearls and ribbon.

WeddingCardChad2

I absolutely adore the colors in the medallion. They are so delicate and pretty. Perfect for a wedding I think.

Supplies needed:

Paper: 12x12 Cardstock in grey, light grey, cream, white

Rubber Stamp Tapestry : Love 3" Block Stamp, Vintage Crochet stamp set

Spellbinders: Nestabilities

Ribbon and pearl embellishments

Now for my Sister-in-law’s card:

DottiesWeddingCard1

This was the first card I have made for someone else to give.  I have to admit I was a little nervous because I knew how special this occasion was for her and I wanted to make the card special too.

The theme was two hearts become one and I think the card turned out so pretty.

DottiesWeddingCard2

Supplies needed:

Paper: Cardstock in pink, cream and a pretty heart print (I found this one as AC Moore)

Rubber Stamp Tapestry : Southern Dogwood Set stamp set

Spellbinders: Nestabilities

Ribbon and silver pearl embellishments

Sentiment: Use printer and word processing to print sentiment of your choice.

Thanks for checking out my blog today! Please let me know what you think of these cards.

Oh and have a great Labor Day weekend!!!!
